Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

There’s an eclectic array of robust flavors to explore in the Port Hueneme food scene. Sushi Hanada serves Tokyo-style sushi where guests can sit at the sushi bar and watch the incredible creations take form. They use quality, fresh ingredients to construct brilliant flavors in an upbeat, friendly atmosphere. Pho Saigon creates aromatic Vietnamese dishes, tantalizing guests’ taste buds. There’s a lively atmosphere in this cozy spot where locals get the best Vietnamese fare in the area.

Traveling north on the Pacific from the culinary creations of Japan and Vietnam are the incredible fares of Carnitas El Brother. They serve fusion Mexican cuisine using fresh ingredients in their innovative dishes, like the ramen noodle burrito. The cantina is full of charm with wood beams on the ceiling and red tile floors. Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine uses wide open spaces and round white architectural features to create a grand setting. Guests catch festive performances and a colorful display of art. Traditional Brazilian food, prepared in clay pots, sizzles in exciting flavors on tables as guests prepare to indulge.

Things to Do

Port Hueneme is more than a beautiful place to live. It’s an exciting town full of activities for locals. The California Strawberry Festival is a two-day event featuring live music, entertainment, art, vendors, a cornucopia of food, and strawberries. Strawberry-themed creations, from drinks to desserts, excite the pallets of festival goers. For those looking to participate in the festival, there’s a parade, 5k run, and recipe contest with steep competition. The Hueneme Beach Festival gives locals a free event to enjoy live music, art, carnival rides, and delicious local fares. Everyone loves the chalk art exhibit, and the sand sculptures contest is a fun and somewhat competitive event.

It doesn’t take a parade or festival to excite locals, though. Port of Hueneme is the only deep sea port between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. It's the hub of Port Hueneme, a buzz of enterprise and entertainment. Easily the busiest place in the region, the port boasts a wide variety of cargo.

However, the port’s most famous venture is likely the US Navy Base known as Seabee Base. The Navy’s construction workers create the infrastructure for the Navy and the Marines at the Pacific Fleet’s Seabees. These projects range from naval structures to electric vehicle charging stations, increasing the versatility of the Port’s imports and exports.

Schools

From grade school to higher education, Port Hueneme provides residents with access to incredible schools.
