The architecture of Channel Islands Beach is often designed to blend into the beautiful natural surroundings and features Mediterranean, Spanish Colonial Revival, mid-century, contemporary, and traditional home styles. Coastal architecture and beachfront homes here often feature oversized balconies with remarkable ocean and island views.

Channel Islands Beach is a community consisting of four neighborhoods. Walk Paths to the beach and palm trees line Oxnard Shores, also known as Mandalay Shores, where life is a day at the beach. There are plenty of outdoor activities, from jogging to cycling to playgrounds for kids. Hollywood Beach was once the beach of silver screen movie stars Errol Flynn, Rudolph Valentino and Douglas Fairbanks. Today it maintains its elusive and exclusive air. Hollywood by the Sea features a kiddie beach, providing endless family-fun entertainment. Then there’s the slower pace of Silver Strand Beach. Here life is cafes in the morning and strolling beaches in the evening. It’s incredibly walkable, with a communal vibe welcoming newcomers into the fold. Things to Do

Channel Islands Beach is more than a lifetime of ocean and beach activities; it’s a town grounded in art and speckled with nature. There’s a strong community providing a calendar packed with annual events. At Art Walk at Oxnard Shores, artists display beautiful artwork in the studios, backyards, and streets. Once a year, Channel Islands Beach’s roads come to life with local art. YOGA by the SEA is a regularly held yoga class right on the sandy beach of Mandalay Bay. The community comes together to stretch, align, relax, and get in shape beside the beautiful waters of the Pacific Ocean.

In the spirit of getting the community out and active, the Chari-Tee Putt Putt Tournament is like no other golf tournament. Neighbors set up golf holes in their yards, driveways, and even living rooms for a zany game of golf. It’s an unspecified format, a real twist on golf that thrives on community participation.

Community involvement is extensive around here, and no event displays that better than the Channel Islands Harbor Block Party for the Fourth of July. Local food trucks gather around as a family parade cuts through town. It ends with a boat parade and a deck tour of the infamous Mystic Whaler. Locals love the fireworks displays and markets that pop up throughout the night. It’s a real spectacle, as are the Murals at Silver Strand Beach. The stunning collection of street art and murals make the wall bordering La Janelle Park an art gallery on the beach.

La Jenelle Park is a rusty shipwreck covered in rocks. It’s not your traditional park but an exciting place to explore. The secluded beachfront is the perfect place for an evening stroll or sunset gazing. It’s a wide beach with lots of room and a nearby pier to walk along. For more amenities, Oxnard State Beach Park is a local favorite with its picnic tables, BBQs, firepits, bike path, and volleyball and basketball courts. It’s a lovely spot for a family picnic after exploring the playground and the bountiful nearby greenery. Palm trees line bright blue waters, and the beach skips the crowds, offering a serene environment for hiking, swimming, and sunbathing.
